Works at Bramcote Park
The Council have informed us that they will be carrying out the following work at Bramcote Park:
- Removal of 1 medium sized lime tree
- Removal of three medium sized sycamore trees and 7 small sycamore trees
Ongoing management of Rhododendron throughout the woodlands
The lime tree is directly adjacent a busy path and has extensive decay in the trunk, making it a potential danger.
The sycamore trees are adjacent pathways and have been badly damaged by squirrels stripping the bark (they do this to get to the sweet sap), which has led to infection, decay and resultant branch fall, making the trees a potential danger.
Rhododendron is an invasive species which blocks light to the woodland floor, stifling natural woodland regeneration and negatively impacting biodiversity.
An ongoing programme of tree planting (using a mixture of native species) will continue to replenish the tree stock, increasing the age range and species diversity throughout the woodlands. This will result in a more diverse tree mix, providing resilience against climate change and disease, whilst increasing biodiversity.
