Petition: Don't Scrap Broxtowe

The government have unveiled plans to abolish district councils like Broxtowe. They want to replace the borough council with a large and distant monstrosity. If their plans are carried through then decisions about Broxtowe will no longer be taken in Broxtowe. Instead everything will probably default to the County Council who are relocating their base to north Nottinghamshire. The council that allowed the roads to deteriorate in to such a dreadful state locally will be in charge of everything. The alternative possibility is that Broxtowe will be joined with Nottingham City. Nottingham City Council is utterly dysfunctional following years of poor administration by the Labour Party who dominate it. Broxtowe residents would be saddled with the city’s debts and our green belt land will be used to deal with their housing issues. Sign the petition to oppose these proposals.
