Darren Henry Votes To Break International Law
Broxtowe's Conservative MP Darren Henry has voted to break international law and for that he should be ashamed. Last night in parliament he voted in favour of the Tories new immigration bill which authorises people to be locked up for trial and without access to courts and then deported. this breaches the UK's commitments under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and also the European Convention on Human Rights, both of which were in fact drafted by British lawyers.
The government claim that this bill will stop people smugglers. It won;t do anything of the sort. It does nothing about people smugglers but criminalises the people that they are transporting. They talk about safe and legal routes to claim asylum without mentioning that they have closed down all these routes, leaving desperate people no choice.
Mr Henry knows that this bill breaks international law. It says so on the first page of the text. Even he will have managed to read that far. His actions are an utter disgrace.
